Yoga and Meditation Program
At Serenity Now, CMHC, we believe in providing an integrated approach for treating our clients struggling with mental health disorders and/or substance abuse. In addition to traditional therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychotherapy, we believe in providing other forms of expressive therapy such as yoga, meditation, and art and music therapy programs.
There are many benefits of yoga and meditation for individuals struggling with mental health issues and/or substance abuse. At Serenity Now, CMHC, we introduce our clients to the practices of yoga and meditation. While they may not be appropriate for all clients, we have found that many clients report the benefits of regular practice of yoga and meditation.
There are many proven benefits of meditation, which include physical and mental benefits. On a physical level, meditation lowers high blood pressure, decreases tension-related pain, increases serotonin production, improves the immune system, and increases energy level. On a mental and emotional level, meditation brings the brainwave pattern into a relaxed state that promotes health and healing. With regular practice of meditation, it has been shown to decrease anxiety, improve emotional stability, increase creativity, increase happiness, develop intuition, and expand consciousness.
In addition to meditation, Serenity Now, CMHC offers yoga for our clients as a way to help them manage stress and create a connection between mind, body, and spirit. There are many proven benefits to practicing yoga regularly. The physical benefits include: increased flexibility, increased energy and vitality, cardio and circulatory health, improved respiration, and protection from injury. Aside from these physical benefits, one of the best benefits of yoga is how it helps an individual manage stress. Yoga can be very effective in developing coping skills and acquiring a more positive outlook on life. Yoga’s incorporation of breathing and meditation can help an individual improve his/her mental and emotional wellbeing.
At Serenity Now, CMHC, we believe in incorporating various types of therapies and treatments to help our clients heal and recover from their mental health disorder and/or substance abuse. One of the ways we do this is by offering yoga and meditation to help our clients learn how to live a happier, healthier, more balanced lifestyle.
